Middle School Curriculum
IQRAA Middle School
The middle school years for students at IQAS is a key part in their educational journey as it is here new skills and knowledge are developed along with student social and emotional wellbeing that helps them further develop an identity and prepares them for high school. Here we teach our students how to explore, think critically and act independently. Students also become more aware of their local, national and global environments and how they can contribute as active citizens.
Educational Framework
Our curriculum aligns with the common core state standards ensuring that appropriate pace and rigor are key parts to the middle school program. Helping students develop expectations for their academic and personal progress is a central part to the learning framework. In addition to this, accountability and responsibility are the foundations to success at this level of education.
Cultivating Life Long Learners
Our philosophy emphasizes a student centered approach with inquiry based learning is core. When students drive the learning they develop a sense of purpose and a growth mindset. Creating opportunities for students to apply what they learn to the world around them is an important part of middle school programming. More importantly, it re-enforces who they are and how they can serve the greater good of society.
Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on a number of core subjects – math, science, English, Arabic and Islamic but also includes a number of signature learning experiences in IT, Art, and PE. Student expression, leadership and creativity are all key elements to how learning takes place. This enables students to apply what they have learned so their skills and knowledge grow stronger in each year of the middle school program.
