Elementary Curriculum

The Elementary School curriculum at Iqraa American School is designed to provide students with a strong academic foundation while supporting their intellectual, social, emotional, and personal development. Our curriculum is aligned with American educational standards and reflects our commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and the development of lifelong learners.

Our core academic program focuses on English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. In English Language Arts, we use the McGraw Hill Wonders program to develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills, while strengthening comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking. In Mathematics, the Reveal Math program supports students in building conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving skills through engaging and structured lessons. Our Inspire Science program encourages inquiry-based learning, exploration, and scientific thinking, helping students understand the world around them through investigation and discovery. For Social Studies, we use the Tales of the World program, which helps students explore different cultures, communities, and historical perspectives while developing global awareness and critical thinking skills.

In addition to the core subjects, students participate in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, ensuring the development of language proficiency and cultural awareness. Enrichment subjects such as Information Technology, Art, and Physical Education further support students’ creativity, digital literacy, physical development, and overall well-being.

Our teaching methodology emphasizes student-centered learning, differentiated instruction, and active engagement. Teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of learners and promote collaboration, creativity, and independent thinking. Technology plays an important role in our classrooms, enhancing learning experiences and supporting personalized instruction.

A key feature of our curriculum is our use of internationally recognized assessment and learning platforms. We utilize the NWEA MAP Growth assessment to monitor student progress and identify individual learning needs. Based on these results, students receive personalized practice through the IXL learning platform, allowing teachers to provide targeted support and ensure continuous academic growth.

What makes our Elementary curriculum unique is our balanced approach to academic rigor and student well-being. We focus not only on building strong academic skills, but also on developing confidence, responsibility, and a love of learning. Through a supportive and engaging environment, our students are empowered to reach their full potential and are well prepared for success in the Middle School and beyond.
